Recipe binders are the perfect junction of my passions – food & design. It’s the first step to having you own cook book. I designed my first recipe binder in May 2010 over at my Zazzle store. It was one of those things you make and totally love how it turned out (doesn’t happen very often). I was so proud of having illustrated all parts of it from scratch, I gave myself a pat on the back. I got a Zazzle Today’s Best Award and got into the top 10 binder views on May 20th, shortly after and then the sales started coming in. As of today I have sold 113 copies of this binder (not quite as many as I sold of my most popular recipe binder, which is twice that amount). Here is my 1.5 in vintage looking recipe binder, the way it looks on the website:
And here is the real thing:
The colors of the print are absolutely vibrant and true to what you see on the website. I have read in many customer reviews that they are so happy with the way the color turned out. The off white, beige, black and red are a stunning combination.
And this is the inside of the binder:
It is blank, just waiting to be filled with your recipes. I simply got some clear sheet protectors from the office supplier and some tabbed dividers, which works perfectly for full page prints of recipes. If you have recipe cards you could consider getting photo protector sheets instead. Two years later my binder looks like this:
Lot’s of cooking and baking going on around here. If you are using it as a real recipe binder in your kitchen where the magic (and the mess) happens, there is bound to be some wear on your beloved binder. Also, you will run out of room eventually. That only means it is time to get a new binder. I was greedy, I got two new binders.
With these colorful designs the intensity of the color popped even more. I’m in love.
People who purchased those cute recipe binders got them as gifts for birthdays and weddings or for themselves (like I did). Now with the Christmas Holiday coming up, you can check off the gifts for your foodie friends and get them a recipe binder, or two 😉
