I have been living online for a while now, since 2003 to be precise and since 2007 I’ve had my own website. So when I started andcute.com I wanted to combine everything that I had learned in my previous web presences and multiply it times 10 to truly take it to the next level. Reading a lot of SEO related texts was a major part of my online maturing process. Specifically, I wanted my website to rank high in Google web search results for very specific terms, like cute iphone covers, cute clip art and so on. Lately, I have noticed that the Google author markup is gaining more importance. Search results are more likely to be clicked on when the (preferably nice looking) photo of the author appears along with the link. Now I was on a mission to get my pretty pic into the search results. Following these simple steps described by Google I didn’t notice any difference for a while, but then I got an email from Google informing me that my authorship was recognized with the display of my picture. Hooray! If you Google “andcute” this is what you see 🙂
Interestingly enough the day after Google emailed me, I got an email from Pinterest informing me that I now have the possibility to verify my website. I followed these steps (I’m good at following instructions, so German of me 😉 ) and voila, with the red check mark the next piece of credibility was added to the andcute empire.
So fellow bloggers, I highly recommend to get a Google+ account, work on the authorship markup and get verified on Pinterest.
Happy Blogging!
